No. 41 - Nadine Davies House

614 Second Avenue

This house was built in 1911 for Jennie MacDonald, who lived in a Victorian orchard house at 644 Second Avenue (see Site #44). Later owners included Eugene and Anna Adrian, who purchased the property in 1920, and Ernest and Nadine Dow Davies, who acquired it in 1928. Eugene Adrian was a mining engineer.

After her husband's death, Nadine Davies continued to live here for more than 50 years until her death at the age of 90 in 1981. She was active in Chula Vista civic affairs, and her twin sister's daughter, Lois Nelson, inherited the house.

This house is a charming example of the Craftsman-style bungalow.
