No. 39 - Allison Crockett House320 Second AvenueThis Victorian-style house was built in 1893 for the Allison C. Crockett family. The house was later moved to Second Avenue from its original site on F Street. Crockett, who was a carpenter, probably built this house for his family; he also built the community's first church, the Congregational Church, in 1894. Crockett, a native of Abbott, Maine, died May 21, 1909, of complications from a Civil War gunshot wound that never healed. Although this house has been stripped of many of its ornamental details, the basic structure remains intact. It is significant as one of the few remaining orchard homes in Chula Vista. |
