No.18 - W.J.S. Browne House

54 F Street

W.J.S. Browne acquired this lot from S.W. Randall in June 1928 and had water connected to the property in March 1929. Brown built the house that year on the site of the stable yard of the old Herman Hotel. The hotel had stood nearby from 1890s until it burned in 1913 or 1914.

Browne was an important real estate developer and served as a director of the Peoples State Bank. The house is significant as an interesting version of the Mission Revival style.
