No.16 - Herbert Bryant House30 F StreetHerbert V. Bryant and his wife, Laura, built this house and the one at 26 F Street in 1927. The houses have reverse plans and share a common driveway. The Bryants lived in this one and sold the other. Bryant was well known in Chula Vista, serving on the City Council from 1937 to 1940. He was then elected city clerk and served as chief administrative officer from 1947 to 1953. His son-in-law, Bob Wilson, served in the U.S. Congress. Bryant died in 1970 at the age of 80. Although the porch addition in front has altered the original design, the house retains importance as the former home of a prominent city official. |
