No.15 - George Rife House

630 Del Mar Avenue

Water was connected to this property on April 19, 1920, and this house was constructed in 1920 or 1921 for George and Ada Rife. Since George was a carpenter and contractor, he may have built the home himself.

Rife was born in Pennsylvania and in 1920 moved to Chula Vista where he served as mayor, deputy tax collector and city councilman from 1934 to 1937.

The house generally retains integrity of design and materials and is a good example of the Craftsman bungalows of the 1920s.
