No.14 - Frances Fisher House

617 Del Mar Avenue

Mrs. Olga Zorin purchased this lot in June 1911. The house was built for her that year and is believed to be the first home on "south" Del Mar Avenue. She sold the house in 1919 to Henry S. and Frances Hayden Fisher, prominent Chula Vista attorneys. Henry died in 1928, and shortly thereafter his widow sold the property to John T. and Anna Meyers.

John Meyers was a retired major league baseball player and was known as "Chief Meyers" during his tenure as the catcher for the New York Giants and other teams from 1909 to 1917.

This house is particularly interesting as one of the first Mission Revival buildings in Chula Vista, with a bit of Pueblo Revival influence.
